Appreciation

So this is only my second post, I'm a slacker, I know....but it's gonna get better, really. =)

My parents have been on an European expedition for the last 3 weeks. I am excited that they are able to do that. Since they have been gone, I really have missed just dropping by and saying hi. I didn't realize how much I would talk to them and ask them for advice, help with the kids, or any other random thing that came up. They really are great parents. I have other people in my life that I really appreciate, but I have realized that sometimes, okay a lot of times, I take them for granted.

This last Saturday, my sister and I went to my great aunt's funeral (on my dad's side) This family has gone through more loss in the last 9 months than any family should have to endure all in one year. As I watched them, I just kept thinking, how much more can they take. It made me realize that you do have to appreciate each day you have with the people you love, because there are no gaurantees that come with tomorrow. So today, tonight, or tomorrow, call at least one person that you love and maybe have even taken forgranted and tell them you love them!

On a lighter note, phew......right! My kids have been making funnies left and right, so here are a few that you might like (sorry if you are a FB friend, some of these might be duplicates, but I don't want to forget them!!)

Jenna-isms:
After watching Carson on the flip video doing something crazy, she said "You should totally put that on YouTube." She is 8. Yikes!

Carson-isms:
Asking what I am gonna be for halloween this year, I replied "Oh a crazy lady." He comes back with "Oh...So you aren't gonna dress up!" Thanks, buddy.

Calling my name while hiding under the table, I said "Carson where are you?" "right here." he responds. "Where?" I said. "In your mind" he says. Crazy boy.

Ellie-isms:
Seeing her birthday presents on the table..."there you are, come to mama!"

"Mom, will you rub my feet?" Okay.... "Ahhh...this is the life!" she replies.

" Mom, I can hop on one toenail!"

My first time

So, this is it. I don't scrapbook, video, or really take great pictures of my families ever-changing, ever-active lives.

But now I blog.

I was chatting with a friend the other night and she was talking about how great it is to blog about things that happen in her life. I thought yeah, that's cool--I think I'm gonna do it. It's fast, easy, and I can just sit down and write for 5 minutes and it's done. So, here I go.

We recently got a flip video to use for home and the office....highly recommend it if you don't own one. Anyway, my husband showed me a video today that he took of Carson slow-dancing with Ellie. You know, it was the hand-holding-rock-back-and-forth kind of dancing. It was soooo cute--Something you will play over and over when they are 15 and 13 and are trying to poke each others eyes out with bic pens. It will remind you that they still love each other in the brotherly, sisterly sort of way even though they would never admit to it. I was getting all misty watching it and then all of a sudden Carson sees that he is being video'd and lets go of Ellie's hands and high tails it out of the room like he stole something. Bummer.....it's started already. Never admit you actually like dancing....especially with your sister. Not sure when the whole aversion to dancing with men started....but apparently it's early!
